Our extended foster care program offers a stable environment where you can complete your 2-year technical degree or certification with 24/7 staff support when necessary. Eligibility and Requirements

Our Kindred Community Inc. offers an Independent Living Program with a scattered-site model for youth transitioning out of foster care. Our Kindred Community Independent Program features community-based apartments in various locations throughout the Chattanooga area.

To qualify for the program, participants must meet the following criteria:


  • Be between the ages of 18 and 21 and have chosen to participate in affiliated support services.
  • Be enrolled in secondary school or have a plan to complete high school or obtain a GED.
  • Be enrolled in or have a plan to pursue post-secondary education or a career track.
  • You can obtain employment within 30 days of entering the program.
  • Be capable of living in a semi-supervised shared living space.
  • Be willing to adhere to program expectations and guidelines.
  • Maintain continuous employment, working a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
  • Be willing to follow all program rules and regulations.
